Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’Tigress, has been honored by the Federal Government for their historic win at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship.

Each player will receive the Order of the Niger (OON) national honor, $100,000, and a flat as a token of appreciation.

D’Tigress won their seventh overall AfroBasket title, defeating Mali 78-64 in the final.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commended the team for their courage, discipline, and dedication, describing them as role models for young Nigerians.

The win sparked widespread national pride and celebration, reflecting the team’s dominance on the continent.

This gesture mirrors the rewards recently conferred on the Super Falcons for winning Nigeria’s 10th Women’s Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
