Police uncover bombs, ammunition hidden in scrap

The Kaduna State Police Command has made a shocking discovery of military-grade explosives and ammunition hidden in scrap waste that was transported from Borno State, an area plagued by insurgency.

On August 2, 2025, police found the explosives at a scavenger company in Kudandan Industrial Area, Kaduna South, following a tip-off from credible intelligence sources.

Recovered items are, unexploded ordnance military-grade bombs that hadn’t detonated, locally-made revolver loaded with six rounds, 15 rounds of 7.2mm live ammo, three live cartridges, and other ammo types.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police CP Rabiu Muhammad has ordered the facility to be sealed for a complete sweep.

Scavenger businesses have been warned to stop importing scrap from crisis-prone areas like Borno.

The discovery raises concerns about unregulated movement of materials from Nigeria’s volatile zones into more stable regions like Kaduna.

Investigations are ongoing to determine how the explosives were transported and their intended use.

CP Muhammad emphasized the police’s commitment to public safety and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
