Klitschko to sue Tyson Fury over rematch contract breach

Barring any last minute change of mind, two boxing giants Klitschko and Tyson Fury will be trading blows, this time, though, not in the rings but in court

Barring any last minute change of mind, two boxing giants Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury will be trading blows soon, this time, though, not in the rings.

According to Klitschko’s social media outburst, he’ll be suing Tyson Fury for trying to change the terms of their rematch.

Former undisputed heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko alerted his fans over the scheduled rematch with Fury on social media.

The fight is currently penciled-in for Oct. 29th. But unfortunately, things don’t seem to be progressing well.

“Dear fans. I just want to keep you updated on the status quo of my rematch against Fury,” Klitschko begins.

“Unfortunately, Team Fury is trying to change the terms of already signed contract multiple times, and is going on endless.

To protect my own rights and eventually see the rematch, I’m forced to go to court.”

Fury upended the long title reign of Klitschko last November where he soundly outpointed him on his way to a unanimous decision win.

In doing so, he stripped Klitschko of the IBF, WBA, WBO, and RING magazine titles.

There was, however, an immediate rematch clause in the contract – but that hasn’t kept things from hitting on snag after another.

Fury-Klitschko II had been originally slated for July 9th, but after Fury badly sprained his ankle the rematch had to be postponed.

The rescheduled date was eventually set for Oct. 29th in Manchester, England.

But with word that Klitschko now plans to litigate his issues with Fury in court, another dark cloud hovers over the fight.

Fury on the other hand, seems to be bumping into one hurdle after another.

Recently, The United Kingdom’s anti-doping agency – UKAD slammed charges on world boxing heavyweight champion Tyson Fury over doping-related offences.

UKAD even revealed it had suspended Fury on 24 June.

That was the day the Briton announced he was pulling out his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko because of injury.

The world champion, though, appealed and the suspension was lifted until a hearing in front of the National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP) at an as yet undetermined date.

The 27-year-old champ later said he will sue UKAD over its claims he used a banned drug.
