The 2024 President’s Federation Cup final is poised to make history as underdogs Abakaliki FC of Ebonyi and Kwara United go head-to-head in what promises to be a dramatic showdown.

Kwara United secured their first-ever FA Cup final appearance on Wednesday, defeating six-time champions Rangers International 1-0 in a tense semi-final encounter at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Stadium in Lagos.

Wasiu Alalade’s decisive strike in the 50th minute sealed a famous victory for the Harmony Boys, capping off a spirited performance and sparking celebrations among their loyal supporters.

Their opponents, Abakaliki FC, have already made headlines as the surprise package of this year’s tournament.

Currently battling relegation in the second-tier Nigeria National League (NNL), the Ebonyi-based club has defied all odds to reach the final, dispatching top teams along the way.

The unprecedented final matchup between a debutant Kwara United and a lower-league underdog in Abakaliki FC is set to write a new chapter in the competition’s storied history.

The President’s Federation Cup final promises a fairytale ending for one of the sides, regardless of the result.
