Abducted Benue Passengers Freed After Terrifying Week

Benue State, Nigeria – Finally, the last 10 abducted passengers of Benue Links Transport Company have regained freedom.

Armed men seized victims along the Eke-Elengbecho axis in Okpokwu LGA, creating panic among the local community.

Fortunately, the authorities intervened, resulting in the safe release of the victims on Sunday. This intervention restored hope and relief to many.

This significant development marks the end of their week-long ordeal, thus bringing immense relief to families and loved ones.

Initially, twelve passengers were kidnapped while traveling from Abeokuta to Makurdi on June 22. This incident caused widespread concern among the community.

Fortunately, authorities rescued two passengers earlier, and now the remaining ten have joyfully reunited with their families.

Reports confirm that all victims are in stable condition, although they remain deeply traumatized by this terrible experience.

Johnson Daniel, Benue Links’ Information Officer, expressed profound gratitude for their safe return, emphasizing the importance of community support.

“We are relieved they are back unharmed,” he stated firmly. This statement highlights the collective joy everyone involved felt.

Currently, medical checks and counseling are underway to help them recover from the psychological scars left by their captivity.

Daniel also praised security agencies and community leaders for their relentless efforts.

“Their swift action and cooperation were crucial in securing the victims’ release,” he emphasized.

The transport company remains committed to strengthening passenger safety measures across all routes.

Benue Links Nigeria Limited vowed to work closely with law enforcement to prevent future attacks.

“We prioritize passenger and staff safety above all,” the company declared.

When contacted, DSP Udeme Edet of Benue Police Command stated she lacked full details yet.
