The executive Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has revealed that the State government pays N100,00 as compensation to herdsmen whose cows are killed during any fracas.

He said the same compensations is also extended to farmers whose farms are destroyed by the terror herdsmen.

The Governor stated this when he featured as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise daily on Wednesday,“We pay compensation of N100,000 for any cow that is killed on account of a misunderstanding between the farmers and the herders and pay the same amount for farmlands destroyed by strayed cows,” Governor Ikpeazu said.

“We are not diagnosing the problem properly. We have people who are interested in creating anarchy,” he said.

However, there has been palpable tension across the Southern region of Nigeria as many communities are asking Fulani herdsmen to leave their bushes.

Terror herdsmen have been accused of kidnapping, rape and destruction of farmlands in the region.

The latest onslaught against herdsmen was staged by Nnamdi Kanu’s Eastern Security Network at Isukwuato in Abia State where dozens of cattles and goats were killed and their settlement set ablaze by the security outfit.
