The Abia State Government has sealed a campaign office of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Partners (RHP) in Umuahia, citing violations of the state’s tax law.
The office, located on Ojike Street, was shut down without prior warning, according to an RHP official who spoke anonymously to Vanguard.
A notice from the Ministry of Lands and Housing pinned to the office door references Sections 41 and 100 of the Abia State Tax Law (Law No. 7 of 2020), warning against attempts to unseal the building.
Efforts to reach the ministry for comment were unsuccessful as listed phone numbers were unreachable.
The Renewed Hope Partners, led in the South East by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has been expanding its presence in the region.
