If the people of Amangwu Ohafia in Ohafia local government area of Abia State had the slightest incline that the monster they were nursing and feeding under the guise of Biafra-project will turn around to viciously devour them someday, they wouldn’t have even conceived the idea of venturing into such a useless and fruitless journey.
Amangwu Ohafia which is among the 23 villages that makes up Ohafia local government area of Abia is known for parading renowned scholars, medical professionals, top ranking military officers and well to do businessmen and women.
A community which was once touted as a little London, has become a shadow of itself after some criminal elements masquerading as Biafra agitators forcefully established their terrific hegemony through the barrel of the gun.
There is no gainsaying the fact that Amangwu from being a land of intellectuals, has unfortunately become a home of unknown gunmen.
News Band Newspaper in a series of report revealed how these criminal agitators took over the sole administration of the little community (Amangwu Ohafia) with the creation of a mini-military barracks where villagers who questioned their authority were tortured and eventually killed.
When this medium investigated the activities of the ragtag gunmen, it discovered that they were drawn from different states across the Southeast and South South region. While their weapons according to security intelligence were gotten from Ebonyi and Calabar notorious arms smugglers.
Though, relative peace has returned to the community after the Nigerian military carried out a special operation to flush out the rogue elements terrorizing the villagers. The armed group before they were dislodged from Amangwu, once enjoyed the full support of some questionable characters in the village.
The support they enjoyed gave them the impetus to attack the home of Barrister Olugu Kalu Ugba, a friend of former governor Okezie Ikpeazu in 2021. His mansion and exotic cars were set on fire by the separatist gang who accused him of mounting surveillance cameras to monitor their activities.
They were also behind the unrest which resulted to the brutal murder of a widow and her two grown up daughters in 2022.
The rogue agitators targeted the widow and her daughters after they were accused of fraternizing with military officers who were drafted to the community to restore normalcy during the attack at Barrister Olugu Kalu Ugba’s home.
Meanwhile, since the military concluded it’s vicious operation in Amangwu community, some of the gunmen relocated to other states to continue in their terror business. But of recent, one of the gunmen who is an Indigene of Amangwu Ohafia met his waterloo in Anambra State after he was apprehended by joint security task force.
In a video exclusively obtained by News Band Newspaper, the suspect who identified himself as Emeka Ukpai was arrested with two others.

While speaking with security operatives, Ukpai confessed that he came all the way from Lagos for the operation. He was paraded with the AK47 riffle that was recovered from him.
A source from the community that spoke with News Band described Emeka’s arrest as a disgrace.
“Ukpai has brought shame to the community. Amangwu sons are not known for such things”.
Moreover, this medium also gathered that the rogue agitators are currently regrouping in another neighboring village in Ohafia known as Ndibe community.
