A 25-year-old Abuja-based singer, Ifunanya Nwangene, popularly known by her stage name Nanyah, has died after reportedly suffering a snakebite at her residence in the early hours of the morning.

Nwangene, a classical, jazz, R&B and soul artiste, was said to have been attacked by a snake at her home in Abuja, sustaining a bite that later proved fatal.

Sources told SaharaReporters that following the incident, the singer made desperate efforts to save her life, rushing herself to two different hospitals in search of urgent medical care.

However, she was reportedly turned away or left unattended at the facilities due to the unavailability of anti-venom, a critical treatment for snakebite victims.

Reports indicate that she did everything she could to survive. She went to more than one hospital, but there was no anti-venom available, a source familiar with the incident said.

Further reports suggest that this was not the first time a snake had been sighted in or around the late singer’s residence, raising concerns about safety in the area.

News of Nwangene’s death has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing shock and grief over the incident. Others, however, speculated about supernatural causes, alleging possible links to spiritual manipulation or juju, though no evidence has been presented to support such claims.

As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by health authorities or the police regarding the circumstances surrounding her death. It also remains unclear whether a formal investigation has been launched.

Friends and fans described Nanyah as a talented, rising artiste with a growing presence in Abuja’s local music scene, noting that her death is a significant loss to the creative community.

The incident has once again drawn attention to Nigeria’s fragile emergency healthcare system, particularly the persistent shortage of life-saving drugs such as anti-venom in hospitals, even within the Federal Capital Territory.
