A Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, who was assaulted by the lawmaker representing Aba North and South in the House of Representatives, Mr Alex Mascot Ikwechegh during a package delivery, has tendered a public apology for his actions.

In a video statement sighted by this medium, Abuwatseya expressed regrets for provoking Ikwechegh and asked Nigerians for forgiveness.

He appealed for the matter to be put to rest.

Stephen said, “Good day, Nigerians. My name is Stephen Abuwatseya. I had a misunderstanding with Rt. Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh a few days ago. I actually want to apologize to him for whatever I must have said or done to provoke him to that level of anger.

“I want to tell Nigerians that it’s not time for us to start dividing ourselves based on religion, tribes, or regions. We should actually come together, see how we can unite this nation, and move it forward.

“Please, Nigerians, let’s forgive and forget, as it’s even contained in our Lord’s Prayer, that ‘Lord, please forgive us, as we forgive those who trespass against us.’ For there is no justice without forgiveness. Thank you very much.”

While also expressing gratitude to his family and supporters, he said, “I want to use this medium to thank my family members, my parents, my brothers, my uncles, and everybody that stood by me. I want to thank all of you. I love you all. Thank you. God bless Nigeria.”

NewsBand reported last week that Honourable Alex Mascot Ikwechegh was caught on camera threatening to make an Uber driver disappear and nothing will happen.

The unfortunate incident occurred during a delivery at his residence in Maitama, Abuja.

The driver while recounting his ordeal, said trouble started when he requested that the lawmaker should come outside to receive his delivery personally.

The video shows the visibly angry lawmaker verbally berating and cursing the driver, taking offence at being asked to step out of his home to receive his items.

As the altercation intensified, the footage captured Ikwechegh slapping the driver multiple times, insisting the request was disrespectful given his social status.

At one point in the recording, Ikwechegh was heard threatening the driver, claiming he could make him “disappear” without facing any consequences.

Also, in a second part of the video, the driver was seen sitting in his car without a shirt, claiming that Alex Ikwechegh tore his clothes.
