Abuja Uber, Bolt drivers protest: RideOntrac to launch alternative nationwide

Worried by the protest by Uber and Bolt drivers that rocked Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) over unfavorable charges by Uber, Bolt service providers, a firm known as RideOntrac Limited is set to rescue the FCT drivers and others across Nigeria against unfavorable charges with efficient and affordable services.

To this end, RideOntrac is set to launch Uber and Bolt alternative to ease the pains on Nigeria taxi drivers. The Product Managing Director Aisha Bello told journalists in a briefing at Awka that RideOntrac is a new concept in taxi hailing where the driver pays only N2,000 a month to do as many trip as they wish.

The company according to Bello has already launched the app in Lagos and Abuja and is set to go nationwide by mid October.

She explained that the app “RideOntrac” is available for free on Google’s playstore and can be downloaded and used for free from now till October 15th as part of the Independence Day promo.

The Product Managing Director cited the hardship that foreign operators put Nigerians through as the main drive for the RideOntrac innovation adding that the app also features a secure and reliable means to use the popular green taxis in Abuja known as Along.

Commenting on the on going protest by Uber and Bolt drivers in Abuja, the Chairman of RideOntrac Limited, Engr Emeka Ken Nwabueze called on taxi hailing companies to find ways to reduce the huge burden placed on these drivers.

Nwabueze noted “I know of drivers that have been put out of work because the taxi hailing company is collecting 25 to 30% and leaving the drivers with nothing to maintain their vehicles with”

Asked on how RideOntrac could achieve the rescue mission, the Chairman who revealed that IOS version for iphone users will be available soon, said that “it is already working in Lagos and Abuja, so the rescue mission is achievable”
