Adamawa State Govt Vows To Ensure Water Supply Through Robust Policy

Adamawa state government, has reiterated its commitment to supporting Monitoring and Evaluation Framework development, for robust  water policy, supply and sanitary hygiene in the state.

Commissioner, Ministry of Water Resources, Alhaji Rufai revealed this, at the presentation of First Draft on Monitoring and Evaluation framework in water resources sector workshop in Yola Tuesday, organized in

collaboration with European Union.

Ahmed,urged participants to brainstorm and address challenges of inadequate and conflicting data for the water resources sector, which has become a major concern in the state water sector .

He explained that, despite efforts made by government and development partners, at strengthening, planning and monitoring system, conflicting and inadequate data has undermined efforts of tracking progress.

According to him, vibrant system of programs, monitoring and evaluation

within the sector has remain one of the overarching issues in the implementation of reforms and therefore needed to be  addressed squarely.

The state water resources policy,is to ensure utilization of water to all competing uses as well as facilitate adequate sanitation through participatory investment by all stakeholders

Government is focusing on policies and programs that would ensure the availability, sustainable and affordable water supply in the state.

Aliyu  Abdulhakeem, expert on Water  Supply and Sanitation Sector Reform Program (WSSSRP),pointed out that the significance of the workshop is to come up with workable monitoring and evaluation documents for the

state water sector.

Abdulhakeem noted that the documents would ensure data generation, management and processing for decision making in budgeting and planning.

He stressed that over the time, data management has been an issue in the water resources sector,as regards functionality services of most water facilities which hinders access to availability of water to the users in the state.
