Adamu Garba Issues Warning as Northern APC Members Flee to ADC

Adamu Garba APC defection concerns have triggered serious alarm within the ruling party, as defections to the ADC surge across Northern Nigeria.

The former APC lawmaker warned that the trend could threaten the party’s grip on the North before the 2027 elections.

He described the rate of defections as “alarming” and warned it could weaken the APC before the 2027 elections.

Garba shared his concerns in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

He noted that defections were not limited to APC members alone.

He said members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were also leaving for the ADC in large numbers.

“The rate at which PDP and APC members are resigning to join ADC in the North is alarming,” Garba posted.

“I think it’s time we, APC members, write affirmation letters to confirm our commitment to the party,” he added.

The Adamu’ APC defection concerns remarks reflect growing anxiety within the APC, especially in the North.

The North has long been considered the party’s political stronghold.

The ADC has recently become a rallying point for opposition forces nationwide.

Key political figures like Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar have endorsed the coalition platform.

This wave of support has raised speculation about ADC’s strength ahead of 2027.

Analysts now believe the coalition could seriously challenge President Tinubu’s re-election chances.

Garba’s concern signals what many insiders already fear.

The North may no longer be a guaranteed base for the ruling party.

Meanwhile, the ADC has accused Tinubu’s camp of trying to destabilise the growing coalition.

Party leaders described those efforts as desperate and dangerous.

They warned that undermining the opposition could backfire on the administration.

The APC, however, remains defiant.

In a recent statement, party officials declared that Aso Rock is not open until 2031.

They insisted that the North is still fully behind President Tinubu.

Garba’s comments suggest otherwise.

His public call for party loyalty hints at panic within APC’s northern structure.

Political analysts say the ADC’s rise in the North is no longer a fringe event.

It reflects deep dissatisfaction with Nigeria’s current leadership.

If the trend continues, it may drastically reshape Nigeria’s 2027 election landscape.

The ruling party’s dominance in the North may be coming to an end.
