“ADC Belongs to All Nigerians,” David Mark Declares, As He Unveils Interim Leadership in Benue

The acting national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has reiterated the party’s commitment to inclusive and people-centered politics, assuring Nigerians that the ADC belongs to everyone, regardless of background, status, or affiliation.
Mark made this known through his representative, Gabriel Suswan, a former governor of Benue State, during the official unveiling of the party’s structure and the inauguration of its interim leadership in Makurdi, the state capital, on July 9, 2025.
Addressing the gathering, Mark, a former Senate President, emphasized that the ADC’s vision is built on equity, fairness, and the full participation of the Nigerian people.
He insisted that the party will not be hijacked by any individual or group, promising equal treatment for all members.
“There will be no discrimination or short-changing of anyone.
“Everyone will be treated equally, regardless of who they are,” he said.
Mark stressed that the ADC aims to be a true platform for the people.
He encouraged citizens to take ownership of the party by nominating credible leaders from all walks of life and communities, assuring that the leadership selection process would be free from interference by top party officials.
“The party is for the people, not for one person. We want the people to take ownership of the party, which is why we encourage you to consult and nominate potential leaders,” he noted.
“None of us will get involved directly in this process, and all sections of society will be represented.
“There will be a state leader for the disabled, women, and all other groups.
“So, let no one feel agitated about the potential leadership here.
I have sent a message to let you know that I stand with all of you in Benue who are interested.”
In line with the party’s commitment to grassroots participation, Mark announced the formation of a seven-member interim leadership team, which he said emerged through wide consultations across various stakeholders.
The team, he said, will be in charge of coordinating party activities and registering new members for a 30-day period starting from July 9, after which it will hand over to a more permanent structure.
Leading the interim committee is Hon. Terngu Tsegba, a former member of the House of Representatives.
Other members include Samson Okwu (Security), Stephen Ayua (Publicity Secretary), Elizabeth Alagh, Cletus Tyokyaa, Abeji Egwa, and Atoo Agber.
In his address, Tsegba reaffirmed the ADC’s readiness to bring transformational leadership to Benue State.
He outlined key focus areas including governance guided by the fear of God, transparency, rule of law, and equitable distribution of resources and opportunities.
“The ADC will govern this state with the fear of God; we will adhere to the constitution.
“We will provide good governance and ensure your security,” he said.
He also promised that the party would work toward the safe return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their ancestral homes and that local government autonomy would become a functional reality under the ADC.
“We will work to ensure that all our internally displaced people return to their ancestral homes.
“We will grant local government autonomy, not just on paper.
“Our ADC government will ensure that all local governments receive their subventions directly into their accounts,” Tsegba stated.
He reached out especially to the youth and unemployed, describing the ADC as the answer to their long-standing frustrations.
He also assured citizens that the party would not be driven by sectional interests.
“This is a new era. For all our youth, especially those of you without jobs, the ADC is your solution.
“Our government will not be sectional. We will ensure the equitable distribution of offices throughout the state.
“ADC will treat everyone as a stakeholder in this state—whether you are rich or poor, young or old, or from any tribe, we will treat everyone equally.”
Voicing support for the party from the Benue South senatorial district,
David Olofu declared the region’s total commitment to the ADC and affirmed readiness to contest the 2027 elections under its banner.
With this launch, the ADC has signaled a fresh chapter in Benue’s political landscape—one focused on unity, grassroots development, and governance anchored in fairness and inclusion.
