ADC Claims Nationwide Coalition to Unseat APC in 2027 Elections

(DDM) — The African Democratic Congress has projected confidence in building a nationwide political coalition capable of challenging the dominance of the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The position, shared through party-aligned channels, outlines a strategic regional alignment involving prominent political figures across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

According to the projection, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is expected to mobilise support across the Northeast, a region considered critical in determining electoral outcomes.

In the Northwest, the party’s support base is said to be anchored on influential figures including Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Nasir El-Rufai, Aminu Tambuwal, Abubakar Malami, Kabiru Marafa, and Abdullahi Kaita, all of whom are projected to influence voter mobilisation in the region.

The North-Central zone is also identified as a battleground, with names such as David Mark, Dino Melaye, and Solomon Dalung cited as potential mobilisers for the party.

In the Southeast, the ADC narrative positions Peter Obi as the key political force expected to consolidate regional support.

Similarly, in the South-South, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and his political structure are projected as central to the party’s electoral calculations.

For the Southwest, Rauf Aregbesola is identified as a major figure expected to rally support for the party within the region.

The coalition narrative reflects an emerging opposition strategy aimed at unifying diverse political interests under a single platform to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Notably, the statement also expressed skepticism about the influence of incumbent governors, asserting that no sitting governor would be able to decisively deliver electoral victory for President Bola Tinubu or the APC in 2027.

Political analysts say such claims signal intensifying realignments within Nigeria’s political landscape, as opposition forces explore coalition-building as a pathway to electoral success.

They, however, caution that while high-profile endorsements may shape public perception, actual electoral outcomes will depend on voter turnout, party structures, and the credibility of candidates presented.

Observers note that Nigeria’s history of political alliances has often been unpredictable, with shifting loyalties and last-minute defections playing a decisive role in elections.

As the 2027 race gradually takes shape, attention will focus on whether the ADC can translate these projected alliances into a cohesive and effective political movement capable of challenging the ruling establishment.
