ADC, COPDEM Defy Godfathers as Delta Secretariat Redefines Party Politics

(DDM) – The Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), Delta State chapter, under the leadership of Evangelist Benok Nwanji, has issued a press statement commending the Delta State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Engr. Austine Okolie, for his exceptional commitment, sacrifice, and strategic leadership that have repositioned the party as a formidable political force in the state.

In the statement released from the office of COPDEM Delta State, Evangelist Benok Nwanji praised Engr. Austine Okolie for his unwavering dedication to building strong political institutions, describing the newly secured and branded ADC Delta State secretariat as a bold symbol of independence, organisation, and grassroots ownership.

COPDEM noted that the emergence of the gigantic ADC state secretariat, funded through collective efforts rather than godfather influence, reflects a new political culture rooted in accountability, transparency, and shared responsibility.

According to Evangelist Benok Nwanji, Engr. Austine Okolie’s leadership has helped the ADC Delta State chapter stand out among its equals by prioritising structure, discipline, and inclusiveness over personality-driven politics.

The statement further highlighted that the secretariat project represents more than physical infrastructure, stressing that it embodies the spirit of sacrifice and unity that the ADC seeks to promote within Delta State’s political space.

COPDEM also extended special appreciation to committed ADC faithful across the state, singling out Hon. Kenneth C. Gbandi for his consistent support, principled leadership, and people-oriented political philosophy.

Evangelist Benok Nwanji described Hon. Kenneth C. Gbandi as a key pillar whose dedication and collaborative approach have strengthened the internal cohesion of the ADC and inspired confidence among party members.

The group acknowledged the contributions of other stakeholders, party faithful, and supporters who rallied behind the ADC leadership to make the secretariat project a reality, noting that such collective action is rare in Nigeria’s political environment.

COPDEM emphasized that the ADC Delta State experience demonstrates that political parties can thrive without dependence on political godfathers or personal financiers.
