The African Democratic Congress (ADC) was formed in 2005, originally named the Alliance for Democratic Change.

It was later renamed to reflect the aspirations of the Nigerian people.

The party’s constitution outlines its goals and membership criteria, emphasizing grassroots representation and inclusivity.

The ADC has undergone significant developments, including adopting former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s coalition in 2018 and welcoming leaders from other parties, such as Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, in 2025.
