Adeleke’s Second Term Dead on Arrival — ADC Tells PDP, APC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will lose in the 2026 Osun governorship election.
This bold statement comes just days after the Osun PDP released a communiqué backing Governor Ademola Adeleke for re-election and supporting President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.
Charles Omidiji, who leads the ADC in Osun State, dismissed Adeleke’s chances completely.
He claimed that the governor’s fate was sealed, no matter which party he stays in.
“If he refuses to join APC, it only reduces the size of his defeat,” Omidiji said.
“Had he defected, both APC and PDP would have collapsed instantly in Osun. Regardless, ADC will produce the next governor.”
Omidiji linked the ADC’s growing confidence to the recent rise of former Osun Governor Rauf Aregbesola within its ranks.
Aregbesola, who previously served as Minister of Interior and a key APC figure, now acts as ADC’s interim national secretary.
His defection has strengthened the party’s bid to lead an anti-APC coalition in 2027.
Meanwhile, the Osun PDP tried to shut down speculation about Adeleke’s defection.
In its July 21 communiqué, party leaders confirmed that the governor remains loyal to the PDP and will run for a second term in 2026.
According to the party, APC leaders never initiated any genuine plan for Adeleke’s defection.
It also noted that most APC members in the state oppose the idea altogether.
The PDP admitted that many party loyalists initially disliked the rumours of Adeleke’s possible move.
Still, they pledged to follow him to any party, out of loyalty and respect for his leadership.
Despite internal tensions, PDP leaders backed Adeleke for a second term under the PDP.
They also endorsed President Tinubu for re-election in 2027, calling Osun his “ancestral home.”
As the battle lines for Osun 2026 sharpen, ADC says it will defeat both PDP and APC especially with Aregbesola now firmly in its corner.
