The Super Eagles are $175,000, about N63 million, richer after coming from behind, though having taken the lead earlier, to beat Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions 3-2.

The win saw Super Eagles advance to the quarter-finals of 2019 African Cup of Nations [AFCON] championship in Egypt.

The largesse is courtesy of Alteo boss, Mr. Benedict Peters who, just before the match, promised to give the team $100,000 if they beat Cameroon and additionally promised $25,000 per goal.

The Eagles defeated Cameroon after scoring three goals courtesy of Odion Ighalo’s brace and Alex Iwobi’s decider.

The Eagles led until the 41st minute, through an Odion Ighalo goal, before being pegged back and going behind within three minutes.

Goals from Ighalo and Alex Iwobi within three minutes after the hour restored the Nigerian side’s lead and gave them the important win.

Although there were glaring shortfalls in the match Nigerians believe it was a major improvement compared to the match against Madagascar in the last group match which saw the Nigerian side lose 0-2.

With this development, Cameroon is the second high profile team to exit Egypt just a day after Morocco were sent packing by Benin Republic contrary to permutations in some quarters.
