Afikuyomi announces break with Tinubu, Says ‘I’m Now Independent’

Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, one of the closest allies of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu seems to have broken ranks with him ahead the 2019 general elections.

Though the rumour mill has been agog with the news that Afikuyomi was unhappy at the way Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was treated by the party, no one could confirm officially what was amiss until a tweet by the former Senator this morning.

In the tweet, Senator Afikuyomi thanked everyone and wished them  very good tidings and a successful 2019 before dropping the bombshell: “…personally, I am now an Independent Service Provider…”

The implication of this is massive because Afikuyomi has always been in the engine room and on Tinubu’s side since this democratic dispensation began in 1999.
