After Preaching Loyalty, Bwala Quietly Jumps PDP Ship

Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communications, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His resignation is contained in a letter dated July 10, 2025. The letter was addressed to the Chairman of his ward, Garkida Ward, in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Bwala, who was once a vocal PDP figure, criticized the party’s current leadership. He said the PDP has drifted far from its original principles.
“I hereby resign my membership from the PDP, effective immediately,” he wrote.
He expressed disappointment, saying the party no longer stands for visionary leadership or public accountability.
According to him, PDP was once a party built on hope, democracy, and public service. But today, he believes those values are lost.
“This decision stems from deep concern over the party’s declining commitment to purposeful leadership,” Bwala explained.
He stressed that leadership failure, internal disunity, and a lack of public trust have weakened the party’s relevance.
“A political party should be a vehicle for governance, accountability, and people-driven development,” he added.
“Regrettably, the current leadership has failed to uphold these values.”
Bwala said he could no longer, in good conscience, remain in a system that no longer reflects service and integrity.
He thanked the party for the opportunities and relationships built during his time as a member.
The resignation has already triggered political debate online. Many see his exit as a sign of deeper issues within the PDP.
Bwala was a fierce critic of Tinubu before switching roles. His appointment as Tinubu’s aide drew national attention and backlash.
Now, with this move, he has severed ties with his former party entirely.
Political analysts believe this could affect PDP’s chances ahead of the 2027 elections.
Some predict more resignations in the coming months.
