Again, Gunmen Abduct Five Women, Including Nursing Mothers in Kano

Armed bandits have reportedly abducted five women in a fresh raid on Yan Kwada Village, Farun Ruwa community, Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.

Residents said the attackers stormed the area on Sunday evening, firing indiscriminately and breaking into multiple homes before abducting the women. Some of the victims were reportedly nursing mothers.

Ammar Wakili, a resident of Shanono, told our correspondent, “I only got the news this morning that five women were taken. Bandits have been targeting parts of Shanono, especially border communities.

Many residents are planning to flee out of fear.”

Diaspora Digital Media reports that the incident comes just a week after a joint security operation reportedly clashed with armed groups in the same community, resulting in the deaths of several suspected bandits.

The attack highlights ongoing security challenges in Kano’s rural areas, with communities along border regions frequently targeted by criminal groups. Residents have called for increased protection and urgent intervention from security agencies to prevent further abductions and restore a sense of safety.
