Air Force decimates ISWAP leadership cell in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully conducted an airstrike on Arina Woje, a notorious Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) stronghold in the Southern Tumbuns of Borno State, near the Lake Chad region.
The airstrike, carried out on Sunday, July 27, 2025, targeted ISWAP commanders and fighters, resulting in the destruction of several structures housing key leaders, fighters, and logistics storage facilities.
The mission followed a series of credible Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) sorties that confirmed the return of terrorist elements to the area after recent inter-factional clashes.
ISR data revealed significant terrorist activities, including movement of foot soldiers, reactivation of structures, and concealment of possible command centers and logistics depots beneath dense foliage.
Preliminary battle damage assessment shows that the strike effectively disrupted ISWAP’s operational planning and resupply efforts in the region.
The NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, stated that the operation reflected the NAF’s continued resolve to dislodge terrorist elements and deny them freedom of movement.
The operation highlights the importance of intelligence-driven air power missions in modern counter-terrorism operations, supporting ground forces in restoring peace and stability across Nigeria.
