Senate President Godswill Akpabio has boldly announced his plan to run unopposed in the 2027 Akwa Ibom senatorial election.
Furthermore, he declared President Bola Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno as unchallenged candidates for their respective positions.
During his constituency briefing in Ikot Ekpene on Friday, Akpabio, a key APC leader, expressed strong confidence in Nigeria’s political future.
Representing Akwa Ibom North-West, he emphasized unity and progress while rallying support for his 2027 bid.
Endorsements and Political Alliances
Interestingly, Governor Umo Eno, a PDP member, previously endorsed Akpabio and Tinubu for the 2027 polls.
While backing Akpabio’s Senate presidency, Eno promised to later explain his support for Tinubu.
This cross-party alliance highlights Akwa Ibom’s evolving political dynamics.
In return, Akpabio endorsed Eno for a second term, praising his inclusive governance.
Through his aide, Jackson Udom, Akpabio commended Eno’s leadership, stating, “He unites people and ensures peace.”
Tinubu reportedly appreciates the collaboration between both leaders.
Constituency Empowerment Initiatives
Having served as Akwa Ibom’s governor, Akpabio now focuses on grassroots development.
During the event, he distributed cars, tricycles, and cash grants exceeding N2 billion.
Additionally, he awarded scholarships to constituents across all three senatorial districts.
These initiatives strengthen his political influence ahead of 2027.
With Eno’s endorsement and widespread constituent support, Akpabio is positioning himself as a dominant force in Akwa Ibom politics.
Akpabio’s declarations signal a strategic move toward the 2027 elections.
Cross-party endorsements suggest a focus on unity and development.
As political alignments solidify, Akwa Ibom’s leadership landscape will likely see significant shifts in the coming years.
