The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has joined the nation in mourning the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died earlier today in London.

In an official press release signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Barr. Otoabasi E. Udo, the party described his death as a “great loss to Nigeria” and celebrated his legacy as a visionary leader.

The statement read in part: “With a deep sense of loss and profound respect, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akwa Ibom State mourns the passing of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari.

“He was not only a statesman but a visionary leader whose unwavering commitment to the unity, progress, and prosperity of Nigeria will remain indelible in our national consciousness.”

The party particularly highlighted Buhari’s role in strengthening the APC as Nigeria’s leading political force, crediting his leadership for uniting Nigerians across ethnic and religious divides.

The late Buhari

The statement further acknowledged Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade, institutional reforms, and dedication to the rule of law, stating that his policies laid a foundation for Nigeria’s future.

“We recall with pride his dedication to strengthening our institutions, fighting corruption, and promoting the rule of law. His administration championed reforms that have shaped the trajectory of our nation,” it added.

The Party extended sympathies to Buhari’s family, the federal government, and all APC members nationwide, praying for divine comfort.

“May Almighty Allah grant his soul eternal rest and comfort all who mourn this irreparable loss… Nigeria has lost a patriot, a bridge-builder, and a father to the nation,” the statement concluded.
