Following the Community Watchdog story on the alleged stealing of about N5billion by the cook working for Uche Nwosu, Chief of Staff and in-law to Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha, goons suspected to be on the payroll of the said of Uche Nwosu, immediately commenced attempts to assassinate the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Comr. Precious Nwadike.
First was a lady who severally buzzed and called the phone number of Comr. Nwadike demanding for an instant appointment at Rock View Hotels Owerri, where she intended booking for or negotiating an advertisement to be placed in the Community Watchdog Newspapers.
When told to go to the Newspaper’s office and place such advertisement especially after admitting that it was for a “Change of Name”, the lady declined insisting that she has to meet with the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, eye ball-to-eye ball in order to book for the advertisement.
Her request was however turned down making way for what has come to be a “Plan B”. The “Plan B” quickly followed on Thursday, November 5, 2015 when a man walked briskly into the newsroom of Community Watchdog.
He revealed to the female staff on duty how he was privy to a plan quickly hatched at Government House Owerri, aimed specifically to eliminate Comr. Precious Nwadike for having the guts and effrontery to publish a particular article.
The article had alleged that about N5billion out of the Imo bailout fund of N26.8billion was allegedly stolen by Uche Nwosu’s domestic servant and cook who was said to be a native of the Republic of Benin.
According to the source, who explained that he felt bitter that while Imo workers were exposed to pangs of hunger and penury, someone else had the temerity to allegedly stash away a sum of money allegedly, in the neighbourhood of about N10 billion from where the cook allegedly helped himself with as much as N5billion.
As a result, he felt that it would be unpardonable for him to be privy to such a plot to exterminate the lives of Watchdog Editors and Publisher for daring to publish what he claimed “to be the truth”.
Consequently, he warned the staff to advise the Publisher Comr. Precious Nwadike particularly to avoid the office and meeting with a certain pretty lady who was detailed to lure him into an advertisement contract.
In the course of said discussion and negotiation or bargain, he would be abducted by the three goons already positioned and assigned to do the dirty job of assassinating the Publisher.
As revealed to our staff, no sooner our kind and compassionate source left the office than the ravishingly, bewitching lady and intoxicating beauty arrived the office demanding to see Comr. Precious Nwadike.
When told he was not around, she directed that he should be sent for since she had come with a very important advertisement to place in the newspaper.
When it became obvious that the Publisher, Comr. Precious Nwadike was not going to honour such invitation which ordinarily lures him to death, the now demoralized lady walked away in anger and was watched from a distance by some neighbours while he was entering her car.
She was then accompanied by a black jeep with “the three musketeers and goons allegedly sent by Uche Nwosu to assassinate the Publisher of Community Watchdog Newspapers.
The goons had earlier waited impatiently at the livestock stores located at the ground floor of the building.
Having failed to execute the hatchet job, the planners and mastermind went on air on the internet in an effort to incite security personnels.
Authored by one IK Ogbonna said to be the media aide to the Governor on social media, he declared the Publisher of Community Watchdog Newspapers, Comr. Precious Nwadike wanted, thus pre-empting the security agents to go after him.
As if that was not even enough, their collaborators in Sam Onwuemeodo and Joe Anyama through their White and Announcer Newspapers publications have been imploring the security agents to move after the Publisher Comr. Precious Nwadike for what they termed a defamatory story against Uche Nwosu, whom they have variously described as “a great philanthropist per excellence”.
The staff and management of Community Watchdog Newspapers however became apprehensive when the State Directorate of Security Services (SSS) persistently insisted that Comr. Precious Nwadike must honour their invitation.
Several times, they called asking him to report at their Owerri State headquarters but despite asking their Owerri State headquarters to send a written invitation to the office, the SSS directorate declined.
The social media was also dominated by IK Ogbonna’s alarm that Nwadike has gone into hiding and underground to evade arrest having been declared wanted by Security Agencies.
This development remained dominant despite denials by the State Police Command that no one including Comr. Precious Nwadike was declared wanted over the allegations of the stolen N5billion now and 4million USA dollars allegedly burgled by a foreign cook.
