(DDM) – The campaign train of a leading Anambra governorship hopeful stormed Oba, Nkpor, and Nsugbe over the weekend, drawing overwhelming support from residents who turned out in large numbers to express confidence in his vision for a new, people-centered government.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the arrival of the campaign team brought the three communities to a standstill as jubilant crowds lined the streets, waving party flags and chanting songs of solidarity in anticipation of a new era of purposeful leadership.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement as youth groups, women’s associations, artisans, traders, and traditional leaders came out en masse to welcome the campaign team, signaling growing grassroots acceptance of the candidate’s message of hope, reform, and renewal.

In his address to the people, the candidate reaffirmed his commitment to building an Anambra founded on transparency, integrity, and justice, where every citizen is carried along in the decision-making process of governance.

He stated that his administration would prioritize agriculture as the backbone of Anambra’s economic transformation, pledging to invest massively in mechanized farming, irrigation, and agro-industrial clusters to create jobs and reduce dependence on imports.

According to him, the agricultural sector has the potential to employ thousands of young people, reduce rural-urban migration, and make Anambra a net exporter of food and agricultural produce within four years of his administration.

He further emphasized that his government would implement free and compulsory education at both primary and secondary school levels, ensuring that no child in Anambra is denied access to quality learning due to poverty or background.

In his words, education is not just a privilege but a right, and every government that neglects education neglects the future.

He promised to equip schools with modern learning facilities, train and retrain teachers, and introduce technology-driven education that prepares young people for global competitiveness.

The governorship hopeful also pledged to introduce a monthly social welfare allowance for senior citizens aged seventy and above, describing it as an expression of gratitude to the elderly who dedicated their lives to the progress of the state.

He explained that the welfare program would be carefully implemented to ensure transparency and sustainability, adding that the dignity of the elderly must be restored through inclusive social policies.

In the area of infrastructure, he pledged to embark on the massive construction of durable road networks across the state, linking urban and rural areas to foster trade, mobility, and economic growth.

He said that under his administration, every local government area in Anambra would experience the presence of quality infrastructure, including roads, bridges, water projects, and power initiatives that would improve living standards and attract investors.

While addressing the crowd in Oba, he assured the people that his government would operate on the principles of accountability and inclusiveness, adding that every sector would be managed transparently to build public trust.

He commended Ndi Anambra for their resilience and industry, saying the state’s human capital potential remains its greatest asset.

According to him, “Anambra’s progress must be powered by its people, not politics. Our administration will place the people at the heart of every decision and policy direction.”

The candidate also used the occasion to express deep appreciation to Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party and former governor of Anambra State, whom he described as a moral compass and symbol of integrity in Nigerian politics.

He said Mr. Obi’s disciplined approach to governance and accountability continues to inspire leaders who believe in service to humanity rather than self-enrichment.

He also paid glowing tribute to Hon. Tony Okechukwu Nwoye and Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for their exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the ideals of transparency, prudence, and reform-oriented governance.

The candidate noted that his team, including his running mate, Hon. Mrs. Ifeoma Okaro, represents a new generation of visionary leaders who are determined to restore faith in governance and deliver meaningful development across all sectors.

He described Hon. Ifeoma Okaro as a courageous and compassionate woman whose background in public service and community development makes her the ideal partner for the mission to rebuild Anambra.

He also stressed the importance of women’s participation in governance, assuring that his administration would ensure gender equality and empower women to contribute meaningfully to leadership and decision-making processes.

At Nkpor, youth groups presented a solidarity banner bearing the inscription “We Believe in a New Anambra”, while several market unions endorsed the campaign’s manifesto, describing it as realistic, people-oriented, and economically viable.

The campaign team also met with traditional rulers and community elders, who offered prayers for peace and urged the candidate to remain committed to his promises even after winning the election.

He assured the traditional rulers that his government would restore respect for traditional institutions and partner with them in resolving local conflicts, maintaining cultural heritage, and promoting community development.

During his stop at Nsugbe, the candidate reiterated his vision for a peaceful, united, and prosperous Anambra where every citizen, regardless of party or background, enjoys equal opportunities and protection under the law.

He stated that under his watch, insecurity would be decisively addressed through community policing, intelligence gathering, and empowerment programs that discourage youth from crime and unemployment.

He noted that sustainable peace in Anambra depends on justice, fairness, and opportunity, not intimidation or exclusion.

He added that his government would prioritize innovation and technology, create startup grants for young entrepreneurs, and attract investors through a favorable business environment that rewards creativity and productivity.

According to him, the new Anambra he envisions will be an industrial hub and innovation powerhouse, driven by young people and supported by transparent governance.

He concluded his speech with a message of unity, assuring Ndi Anambra that the campaign is not about one person but about the collective will of the people to build a state that works for everyone.

He urged citizens to reject money politics and vote for competence, character, and compassion, stating that the destiny of Anambra must not be mortgaged for temporary gain.

The rally ended with music, cultural dances, and songs of solidarity as the campaign convoy moved to other parts of the state, continuing its engagement with voters at the grassroots.

Supporters described the event as historic and a reflection of the people’s desire for genuine change and development.

Political observers who spoke to DDM noted that the growing enthusiasm across communities indicates a shifting political mood in Anambra ahead of the forthcoming elections.

They also observed that the campaign’s message of transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness is resonating deeply with voters, especially among youths and first-time voters eager for transformation.

With weeks remaining to the election, the candidate vowed to maintain a peaceful and issue-based campaign, anchored on ideas, integrity, and service delivery.

He reaffirmed his faith in God and the people of Anambra, expressing confidence that together, they will birth a new chapter of progress and prosperity.
