Anambra guber: Moghalu picks LP governorship form

Chief George Moghalu, a former National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially joined the Anambra governorship race after picking up nomination and expression of interest forms of the Labour Party (LP).

The procurement of the forms my Moghalu took place at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.

He announced his intention to challenge Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the November 2025 election.

Moghalu had contested the ticket of the APC in the controversial party primary election which saw Senator Andy Uba’s emergence as the candidate in the last election.

While speaking after he was presented the nomination form by the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, Moghalu expressed confidence that he will emerge as the candidate, adding that he will not let the party down

“I have confidence that the party leadership will provide us a platform for fair contestation. At the end of the day, one person will fly the flag of the Labour Party in Anambra State, and I believe, with confidence in God, that I will be that person,” Moghalu said.

Also, addressing party leaders, he pledged unwavering commitment to the Labour Party, assuring them that he would not betray their trust.

He further stated that his decision to join the LP came after extensive consultations with his constituents and other stakeholders.

“A lot of people who know me were surprised that I changed my political platform. I have always remained with one party since the inception of this democratic dispensation, but I had to leave to join the Labour Party,” he explained.

Meanwhile, in response, LP National Chairman Julius Abure welcomed Moghalu into the party, commending his confidence in the party’s vision.

He assured the aspirant of a level playing field in the upcoming primary election scheduled to take place in Awka, Anambra State in April.
