Ange Postecoglou Stands Proud Despite Newcastle Defeat

Tottenham’s boss, Ange Postecoglou expressed pride in his players following their 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle.

The equalizer came controversially after the ball struck Joelinton’s arm, leading to a furious reaction from Ange Postecoglou.

He declared he had never felt angrier in his career, attributing the loss to this contentious decision.

“If it was an even playing field, we’d have won that game,” he insisted, highlighting his frustration.

Despite the disappointment, Postecoglou maintained his pride in the Spurs squad, which faced significant injury and illness challenges.

Third-choice goalkeeper Brandon Austin stepped in, while the only recognized Centre-back, Radu Dragusin, left the game ill at halftime.

The emotional toll of the match was evident, especially after Anthony Gordon’s sixth-minute equaliser, which stemmed from the controversial handball incident involving Joelinton.

Postecoglou lamented, “I’m shattered the boys didn’t get the rewards they deserved. Our football was outstanding against a very good opponent.”

He emphasized that the team deserved to win and that they would have triumphed on another day.

The frustration was palpable as he acknowledged the players’ efforts, stating he was “really angry” about being denied the right rewards for their fantastic performance.

Eddie Howe, Newcastle’s manager, acknowledged the handball incident but focused on his team’s performance.

He remarked, “I believe his arm was down, and the ref and VAR followed the protocol.”

He chose to concentrate on his side’s dominance in the first half.

Now, Newcastle looks to build on their momentum, having won three consecutive Premier League away games, as they prepare to face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
