Anger as Abuja hotel cancels ADC coalition unveiling

The much anticipated unveiling of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the vehicle for the opposition coalition, on Wednesday morning, suffered a setback following a last-minute cancellation by the event venue.
The event was slated for the Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments in Asokoro, Abuja.
The event was expected to mark the formal presentation of ADC as the platform for a new opposition coalition which will challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
This medium understand that organisers were informed on Wednesday morning that the hotel would no longer host the event, with the management citing an unspecified “internal compliance matter.”
A message from the hotel, shared on Instagram by media mogul, Dele Momodu, reads: “Dear Esteemed Patron, Thank you once again for choosing the Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments. We sincerely regret to inform you that due to an internal compliance matter that has just come to our attention, we are unable to proceed with hosting your scheduled event. We are fully aware that the event is less than 24 hours away, and we deeply apologise for the timing and inconvenience this may cause.”
Though, despite the abrupt cancellation, the ADC quickly secured an alternative venue. The unveiling of the party’s interim leadership is now being held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja’s Central Area.
Among those being introduced to the public are former Senate President David Mark, who has accepted the role of interim national chairman, and former Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola, appointed as interim national secretary.
