(DDM) – Top governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gathered in Adamawa State to celebrate the unveiling of the new Margi cultural attire.
Diaspora Digital Media DDM gathered that the event was held in Yola, with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri leading the ceremony, highlighting the rich heritage of his ethnic group.
The gathering drew leaders from across Nigeria, representing both major political parties, in a rare show of unity for cultural celebration.
Governor Fintiri explained that the initiative is intended to preserve and promote the traditions, crafts, and identity of the Margi people.
He stated that culture is a vital aspect of societal cohesion and a symbol of pride for Adamawa State.
The governor emphasized that celebrating indigenous attire fosters respect for Nigeria’s diverse ethnic heritage.
Attendees included notable PDP and APC governors, traditional rulers, lawmakers, and community leaders from across the country.
Governor Fintiri described the occasion as an opportunity to showcase Adamawa’s cultural wealth and boost tourism within the region.
He added that the new Margi attire combines traditional designs with modern elements to appeal to both youths and adults.
The governor encouraged young people to embrace their heritage as a means of fostering unity and identity.
During the unveiling, performers displayed traditional dances, music, and dramatizations reflecting Margi customs and storytelling.
Governor Fintiri said the cultural display serves as a tool for educating both residents and visitors about the historical significance of the Margi people.
He also noted that the initiative aims to encourage local artisans and tailors to produce the attire, creating economic opportunities.
Several APC and PDP governors praised the initiative, highlighting the importance of cultural preservation irrespective of political affiliations.

Traditional rulers from Adamawa expressed their delight, saying the event reinforced pride in local customs and promoted cultural continuity.
The event also attracted youths and students, who participated in parades and fashion exhibitions, wearing the newly unveiled Margi outfits.
