The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has sacked Prof. Jerry Gana as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the presidential election coming up on February 16.
The appellate court declared the former Cross River State governor, Donald Duke as the authentic candidate of the party for the forthcoming election.

In a unanimous decision by a three-man panel, the court led by Justice Abdul Aboki set aside the December 14, 2018 judgment of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The FCT court had declared Prof. Gana as the SDP presidential candidate, nullifying the primary election that brought Duke to the fore.
The Appeal Court also awarded N500,000 cost against Gana, in favour of Duke.
