Senator Orji was the immediate past governor of Abia State and the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] candidate in the said senatorial election.

After an intensive electoral legal battle, the Appeal Court upheld his victory over Chief Ahamdi Nweke of the All Progressives Grand Alliance [APGA].

With this victory, Senator T.A Orji appears to be making history as a NIGERIAN politician with the most electoral legal victories.
