Armsgate: Court adjourns Alex Badeh’s trial till Oct, 2016
Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja has adjourned till Monday, October 10, 2016, for the continuation of trial in the prosecution of erstwhile Chief of Defense Staff, Alex Badeh.
Badeh is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] for allegedly abusing his office.
He is being prosecuted alongside Iyalikam Nigeria Limited.
According to EFCC prosecutors, Badeh reported use the dollar equivalent of the sum of N1.4 billion (One Billion, Four Hundred Million Naira) removed from the accounts of the Nigerian Air Force to purchase properties in choice areas of Abuja.
The said purchases were made between January and December, 2013.
The offence contravenes Section 15 (2) (d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended) and punishable under Section 15(3) of the same Act.
The trial will run concurrently for three days till Wednesday, October 12, 2016.
