Nigerian troops, backed by Nigerien forces and air support, successfully repelled a Boko Haram attack on Mallam Fatori in Borno State’s Abadam Local Government Area.
The assault, which occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, involved armed drones and mortar fire, injuring some soldiers and Civilian Joint Task Force members.
At least six terrorists were neutralized, with several others killed in follow-up air strikes by the Nigerien Air Force.
Troops recovered significant weaponry and explosives, including, five AK-47 rifles, eight magazines, 258 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, five RPG bombs, four armed drone bomb, five hand grenades, two bandoliers and one android phone
The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) provided intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance support, while Nigerian and Nigerien air forces conducted follow-up strikes on retreating terrorists.
Military authorities commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism, assuring that ongoing operations would deny terrorists safe haven in the region.
