Arsenal head into the 2026/27 season with a completely different feeling around the Emirates Stadium. After ending a 22 year wait for the Premier League title last season, Mikel Arteta’s side now have the opportunity to establish themselves as the dominant force in English football.
The Gunners finally secured the championship on May 19, 2026, after Manchester City’s 1-1 draw against Bournemouth confirmed that Arsenal could no longer be caught at the top of the table. It was a landmark achievement for Arteta, whose team had finished second three consecutive times before finally overcoming their biggest domestic rivals.
Now, the challenge is even greater. Arsenal must prove that last season’s success was the beginning of a dynasty rather than a one off triumph.
Confidence Is High at the Emirates

The Brazilian midfielder arrived from Newcastle United for around £75 million and brings physical strength, technical ability, experience and leadership to Arteta’s midfield. His arrival could significantly improve Arsenal’s ability to compete in demanding matches.
Arsenal have also strengthened their defence with the impending arrival of Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa, a move designed partly to ease the pressure created by William Saliba’s injury.
Questions Remain Over the Attack
Despite their impressive squad, Arsenal still have one major issue to solve: consistent goalscoring.

Odegaard Could Be the Key
Martin Odegaard could emerge as Arsenal’s most important player this season.
Bukayo Saka remains the club’s biggest attacking star, while Declan Rice continues to provide enormous energy and influence in midfield. However, Arsenal desperately need their captain to rediscover his best form.
Odegaard looked particularly impressive during the Community Shield, producing a performance that reminded supporters why he is regarded as one of Europe’s finest creative midfielders.
If the Norwegian can remain fit and consistently reproduce that level, Arsenal’s attack could become considerably more dangerous.
Max Dowman Ready for a Bigger Role
One of the most exciting stories at Arsenal is the development of Max Dowman.
The teenage winger made history last season by becoming the youngest player to score in Premier League history when he found the net against Everton.
Despite an ankle injury restricting his appearances, Dowman’s progress has been remarkable. Arteta has already indicated that the youngster will remain part of the senior squad this season.
