Arsenal Explore Move For Yan Diomande Amid Winger Search

Share this:

LONDON — Arsenal have reportedly identified RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande as one of their priority attacking targets as the club continues efforts to strengthen its squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

The Gunners are understood to have made initial enquiries about the 19-year-old as manager Mikel Arteta and the club’s recruitment team assess options to reinforce the left side of the attack during the summer transfer window.

Diomande has emerged as one of several players under consideration after attracting attention with his performances for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

The Ivorian international is also attracting interest from several leading European clubs, making competition for his signature increasingly intense.

Arsenal’s renewed interest follows reported setbacks in their pursuit of other attacking targets, including England international Morgan Rogers, who completed a move to Chelsea after the North London club was unable to agree on a transfer fee.

Sporting director Andrea Berta is now believed to be evaluating alternative options as Arsenal continue their search for greater attacking depth.

Alongside Diomande, the club has also been linked with players including Bradley Barcola, Mika Godts and Kerim Alajbegovic as part of its wider recruitment strategy.

Reports suggest Liverpool previously made an approach for Diomande, but RB Leipzig rejected the proposal as the German club maintained its valuation of the highly rated winger.

Paris Saint-Germain are also reported to be monitoring the player’s situation, although negotiations have yet to result in an agreement.

According to reports, Diomande is believed to favour a move to the French champions should a deal be reached.

For now, Arsenal’s contact is understood to have been exploratory, with no formal offer submitted as the club continues to assess its transfer priorities.

The teenager enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists as RB Leipzig secured a top-three Bundesliga finish and qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

His performances have strengthened Leipzig’s position in negotiations, with the German club under little pressure to sell one of its most promising young talents.

Arsenal are expected to remain active in the transfer market as they continue efforts to strengthen several areas of the squad before the start of the new campaign.

Improving the attacking options remains one of the club’s primary objectives, particularly following changes within the forward line and the need to add greater creativity and goal-scoring threat.

Although Diomande is among the names being monitored, Arsenal are expected to continue evaluating multiple targets before deciding whether to progress discussions with RB Leipzig in the coming weeks.
