Asake leaves Olamide’s YBNL record label

Acclaimed Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has officially announced his exit from YBNL Nation, a record label founded by Olamide.

This move confirms earlier speculations about Asake’s departure from the label, which had been circulating since December 2024.

Asake marked his exit from YBNL by releasing his latest single, “Why Love,” under his own record label, Giran Republic.

Notably, the singer had recently paid tribute to Olamide in his song “Military,” which dispelled rumors of a feud between the two artists.

Asake’s decision to leave YBNL Nation has sparked mixed reactions from fans and industry insiders, with some believing that he should have stayed with the label that launched his career.

Asake initially joined YBNL Nation in February 2022 and later secured a distribution deal with Empire in July 2022.

Despite parting ways with YBNL, Asake will continue to work with Empire under the existing agreement.

This development is expected to have significant implications for Asake’s music career, as he embarks on a new journey as an independent artist.

The news of Asake’s exit from YBNL Nation has been met with surprise and curiosity, with many wondering what led to his decision.

While neither Asake nor Olamide has publicly commented on the issue, insiders suggest that Asake’s contract with YBNL Nation may have expired, prompting him to explore new opportunities.
