A senior police officer serving in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State and his wife have died in a domestic altercation.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 18, 2024, in the Ita-Eku area along Igirigiri Road.
News Band understand that a violent confrontation erupted between the policeman identified as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Leramo Caleb, and his wife, Tate, over accusations of infidelity.
The wife allegedly attacked the officer and cut off his manhood.
The enraged policeman reportedly picked up a machete and hacked his wife to death, smashing her head and face in a gruesome act of violence.
Police spokesman in Ekiti, SP Sunday Abutu confirmed the unfortunate incident.
He said the couple were taken to hospital where they were confirmed dead.
“We suspected a case of violence between the couple and a knife was recovered at the scene.
The police have commenced a proper investigation into the matter. It is true, the man was a police officer” he said.
Caleb was said to be on his second marriage, which, unfortunately, ended in tragedy.
