Atiku to speak at IUU conference in Romania

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party—PDP, has reaffirmed his desire to work for the development of the nation’s education sector.

The former vice president stated this on Thursday when a delegation from the International Union of Universities—IUU paid him a courtesy call in his Abuja residence.

The former vice president said he would continue to invest in educational development for the youth and future generation

While accepting the invitation to attend the Romania Forum for Economic and Cultural Exchange in Bucharest, Romania, he urged the organizers to continue to work to expand the frontiers of learning and knowledge globally.

He added that his desire is to see the AUN admitted into the prestigious international community of universities.

Mr Abubakar also commended the president/founder of the Maryam Abacha American University, MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, for his commitment to turning the Maryam Abacha University into a great citadel of learning.

In his remark, Mr Gwarzo, who accompanied the guests, commended Mr Abubakar for his vision and invaluable contributions to the development of education in Nigeria.

And while commending the milestones achieved by AUN in teaching and research, he urged the former vice president to avail himself of the opportunity to be present at international conferences to enable others to benefit from his wealth of experience.

Also speaking, Prof. Mohammed Kher AlGabani who is also the President of IUU, an international academic union with over 1,500 academics that is spread in about 60 countries that organizes 41 international conferences and 20 exhibitions annually, explained that the visit to Mr Abubakar was in recognition of his person as an achiever.

He described the former vice president as a man of many parts who is worthy of honor, adding that he is a successful business mogul, an astute politician and a traditional title holder in a multicultural entity like Nigeria.

He praised Mr Abubakar for establishing the American University of Nigeria, AUN.
