Atiku’s Presidential Hunt Looks Like Reality TV Audition–Mark

Jacob Mark, a former legal adviser to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to formally resign from the party if he intends to pursue the presidency under another platform.
He insisted that Atiku’s actions lack seriousness until he officially exits the PDP and joins the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s The Morning Show on Thursday, July 10, Mark criticized Atiku’s political moves.
He said politicians jumping between platforms without commitment create instability and should not be taken seriously.
“Anyone who hasn’t resigned from their political party and is moving from SDP to ADA, then ADC, lacks credibility,” Mark said.
Atiku’s Candidacy Without Commitment Questioned
When asked if he was referring specifically to Atiku, Mark responded clearly:
“Until he resigns from the PDP, I will not take him seriously.”
Mark warned that it’s unconstitutional for any politician to pursue presidential tickets in two parties at once. He stated that such behavior violates legal norms and shows a lack of integrity.
“You can’t be shopping for a presidential ticket in the ADC and still be eyeing one in the PDP. That’s against the law,” he noted.
ADC Urged To Demand Loyalty From Aspirants
Mark emphasized that Atiku’s pattern of switching parties has weakened internal discipline within the PDP. He blamed this recurring behavior for encouraging political opportunism.
“Atiku laid the foundation for party disloyalty. His repeated defections show no respect for structure or ideology.”
He urged the ADC to demand full commitment from aspirants and to avoid being used as a temporary option by career politicians.
“If the ADC wants to be taken seriously, it must not allow people to treat it like a fall-back plan. It needs loyalty.”
Mark’s comments reflect growing concerns within political circles about Atiku’s next move ahead of the 2027 elections. As speculation continues, many are watching to see whether Atiku will formally announce his PDP resignation to make a credible run under a new party
