Igboayaka: Nwifuru masterminded his abduction — OYC
Demands Nwifuru's resignation

The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has asked the Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, to resign, saying that he masterminded the abduction of OYC president, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka.
OYC Publicity Secretary, Comrade Chinedu Ikem, made the allegation in a statement released on Tuesday, February 11, 2024.
The demand for Governor Nwifuru’s resignation comes on the heels of the arrest of OYC President.
Comrade Ikem insisted that Nwifuru is incapable of protecting the lives and properties of the citizens of the state.
He alleged that the governor orchestrated the arrest of Igboayaka to silence their voice and pave the way for Fulani killer herdsmen to wreak havoc on Igbo land.
‘Sinister plot to secretly try and jail Igboayaka’
According to Comrade Ikem, the council’s intelligent unit has uncovered a sinister plot by the Ebonyi State government to secretly try and jail their president.
The council accused Hon. Jude Chikadibia Okpor, the Commissioner for Information in Ebonyi State, of complicity in the plot.
It alleged that Okpor is working closely with the Commissioner of Police to concoct allegations against Igboayaka.
The OYC condemned the “kidnapping” of their president.
It claimed that the government carried out the act without the knowledge or involvement of Imo State Police Command.

Abducted Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) President, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka
Ikem stated: “The Ebonyi State government sponsored abduction of our leader is a slap on the face of Igbo youths.
“We call on Governor Nwifuru to as a matter of urgency release Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka and apologize to OYC and Igbo nation or resign
“His act proves that he is in support of the Fulani bandits who have been terrorizing our land by not going after the attackers of Nkaleha community.
“Instead, he chooses to go after the OYC National president who advised of the impending attack
“It’s so shameful that the Nigeria police has been an instrument of oppression instead of protecting the citizens.
“Nigeria police has been reduced to be instrument of kidnapping.
“We maintain that our national president was kidnapped, because Imo state government has no knowledge of the so-called arrest.
“How can someone disappear in Owerri, Imo State, and appear in Ebonyi State without the knowledge of Imo State Police Command and you call it an arrest?
“Our national president has been denied access to his phone, legal counsels and family members since his abduction Saturday night.”
Igbo leaders and IGP asked to intervene
Comrade Ikem, therefore, called on Igbo leaders and the Inspector general of police to investigate the “illegal abduction” of Igboayaka.
He demanded the referenced authorities to bring to book those involved in the purported arrest.
The OYC scribe warned that Igbo youths will not allow Nwifuru to turn Igbo citizens victims in their own land.
He noted that many Igbo youths migrated to other regions and countries because of harassment and abduction of innocent youths.
“Sometimes, some of them are tagged IPOB member in other to eliminate them,” he lamented.
“Many youths get abducted in such a way and never returned.
“It was the exact plan of Gov Nwifuru-led government to make the OYC president to disappear without a trace.
“That’s why they switched off his phones, took his car and denied every access to know their location.
“No one has seen Comrade Igboayaka since Saturday, 8th February 2025, up till this moment.
“We are even worried of his safety and wellbeing, knowing how unprofessional Nigeria police could act,” he lamented.
Ikem demanded Igboayaka’s immediate release with apologies rendered, otherwise, Governor Nwifuru should resign immediately.
He threatened to shut down Ebonyi state in peaceful protest, unless police releases the OYC leader immediately.
