(DDM) – The African Union Commission has congratulated President Alassane Ouattara on his re-election following the official announcement of results in Côte d’Ivoire’s presidential election.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that in a statement issued in Addis Ababa, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, praised the Ivorian people for their active participation in the democratic process and commended the country’s electoral institutions for ensuring a transparent, peaceful, and credible vote.
Youssouf highlighted that the conduct of the election demonstrated the maturity of Côte d’Ivoire’s democracy and the determination of its citizens to preserve peace and political stability after years of political turbulence.
He called on all political actors and social groups to sustain ongoing dialogue and to place national unity above partisan interests.
The AU Chairperson urged stakeholders to continue engaging in constructive political discourse, emphasizing that peace and reconciliation remain essential for consolidating democracy and promoting economic progress.
The African Union Commission reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Côte d’Ivoire’s efforts in strengthening democratic governance, institutional reforms, and sustainable development.
It also pledged continued collaboration with Ivorian authorities in advancing regional stability and inclusive growth.
Mahmoud Ali Youssouf further commended President Ouattara for his leadership role within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and his contribution to peacekeeping efforts across the continent.
He noted that Côte d’Ivoire’s political stability plays a strategic role in fostering peace and economic integration within the West African subregion.
The Commission also recognized the importance of post-election inclusivity and urged the government to work closely with opposition parties, civil society groups, and youth organizations to build a unified and resilient nation.
In closing, the African Union reiterated its readiness to work hand in hand with Côte d’Ivoire in promoting regional peace, human rights, and economic transformation, while congratulating President Ouattara on the renewed mandate to serve the Ivorian people.
