Australia trains Adamawa IDPs on clean stove production

The Australian Government has commenced training of some Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Adamawa on the production of clean cook stove.

The training is being handled by International Centre for Energy, Environment and Development (ICEED).

Speaking at the occasion on Wednesday in Yola, Mrs Folake Salawu, ICEED gender specialist, said that 40 out of the 100 IDPs selected for the training had been trained.

She said that training was not only aimed at empowering the beneficiaries earn revenue, but also aimed at addressing deforestation.

In their separate remarks, Mr Ukechukwu Ugwu and Haruna Abdullahi, who would handle the training, commended the trainees for their commitment and interest in the training.

They said that ICEED had made contact with some marketers in Yola who are expected to buy the stoves.

Some of the trainees who spoke during the occasion commended the Australian government for organizing the training.

They promised to teach others and urged the media to enlighten the public on the economic benefits of using the environment friendly stove.
