Nigerian music star Ayra Starr has revealed that her upcoming album, ‘Starr Girl,’ will be deeply rooted in her personal experiences, growth, and self-discovery.
Speaking during an interview on The Dotty Show on Apple Music, the Grammy-nominated singer shared that her recent music reflects a more intentional approach to storytelling, inspired by her journey as a young woman and business owner.
According to her, hit songs like ‘Hot Body’ were created from a desire to reconnect with authenticity in her art. She explained that at one point, she felt disconnected from her music because it wasn’t drawn from her real-life experiences, prompting a conscious shift in her creative direction.
“I wanted to come back to making music from my experiences,” she said, adding that her evolution into womanhood and her expanding responsibilities influenced her decision to embrace a more personal narrative in her songs.
Ayra Starr also described her recent single ‘Tornado’ as a feel-good, confident track designed to serve as a soundtrack for getting ready for a night out, reflecting her playful and expressive side.
Her highly anticipated third album, ‘Starr Girl,’ is scheduled for release on August 14, 2026. The project will feature previously released hits such as ‘Hot Body,’ ‘Gimme Dat’ featuring Wizkid, and ‘Who’s Dat Girl’ featuring Rema, along with a confirmed guest appearance by Asake.
Speaking on what fans should expect, the singer teased a diverse and unpredictable body of work, emphasizing her desire to explore different sounds and constantly surprise her audience.
“I like to do different things… Just expect me to exist in multitudes,” she said.
With ‘Starr Girl,’ Ayra Starr aims to deliver a project that captures her current reality, confidence, and artistic evolution, further solidifying her place as one of the leading voices in Afrobeats.
