Five members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kaura Namoda South of Zamfara State, have been abducted by armed bandits while traveling to Mafara to visit Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari.
The abduction of the party stalwarts occurred on March 1, 2025, according to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama.
Among those taken are Yahaya Sani Dogon Kade, Chairman of Dan Isah Ward, and Bello Dealer, Chairman of Sakajiki Ward.
The officials were ambushed while in transit, with bandits seizing five members of the convoy and fleeing into the bush.
Zamfara remains a hotspot for banditry, with criminal groups frequently resorting to kidnapping for ransom and, in some cases, killing victims despite payments.
Meanwhile, authorities are yet to issue an official statement, and efforts to rescue the abducted party officials are reportedly underway.
