Gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked Lakwaya town in Kano State’s Gwarzo Local Government Area on Sunday night, abducting seven people from Zurin Mahauta village.
The village head, Murtala Mai Unguwa, confirmed the incident and said security operatives responded quickly and are tracking the kidnappers.
However, Army 3 Brigade’s Public Relations Officer, Captain Babatunde Zubairu, stated that five people were abducted, and troops are working to rescue them.
The state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, had visited affected communities to assure residents of government support.
