Terror bandits have reportedly attacked a convoy conveying the remains of late Federal Road Safety Corps Deputy Corps Commander Augustine Ikwue along the Ochadamu–Ejule Road in Kogi State, abducting nine mourners, including two FRSC operatives.
The late FRSC officer was scheduled to be buried in Ai-Ode, Upu community, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, on Friday before the unfortunate incident disrupted the funeral arrangements.
According to a report by eons intelligence on Saturday, the attackers are demanding ₦50 million ransom from the family for the release of the victims.
The corpse, which was abandoned at Ejule Community after the attack, was later recovered and handed over to the family for burial.
The late officer, who died after a brief illness in Osogbo, Osun State, was being transported to his hometown in Otukpo, Benue State, when the incident occurred.
