The tenuous peace in Katsina State was once again disrupted as armed bandits launched a brutal attack on Doguwar Ɗorawa, a farming community near Guga in Bakori Local Government Area.
The attack, which occurred around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, claimed the lives of two prominent community elders, Alhaji Bishir and Alhaji Surajo, and resulted in the abduction of several residents.
The bandits, described by locals as heavily armed, arrived on motorcycles, which they concealed in the bush before advancing on foot into the village.
According to Mahadi Danbinta Guga, a community leader, the two slain elders were highly respected figures who played key roles in guiding and uniting the community.
“They killed them in cold blood. Alhaji Bishir and Alhaji Surajo were pillars of our community. Many others were also abducted during the attack,” he said.
The assault reportedly lasted over an hour, with no immediate intervention from security forces.
This attack comes amidst ongoing concerns about the persistent insecurity in Katsina State, where banditry has become a frequent and devastating occurrence.
