Senator Barau Jibrin, Deputy Senate President, has firmly pledged unwavering loyalty to President Bola Tinubu amid mounting 2027 election speculation.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, Barau directly dismissed the calls for his selection as Tinubu’s 2027 running mate.

He emphasized that focusing on governance is more important than engaging in political maneuvering at this time.

He urged his supporters to focus on national progress and support the president’s transformative agenda.

Barau emphasized that President Tinubu has worked tirelessly since taking office to change Nigeria’s trajectory and bring prosperity.

He described Tinubu as his political father and credited him for crucial support during his rise to prominence.

This support included resolving significant challenges in Kano and backing his bid for Senate leadership, which was instrumental.

Barau declared, “Whatever the President asks me to do, I will do it—100 percent. Loyalty is at the core of my political journey.”

He further advised groups advocating for his vice-presidential candidacy to redirect their energy toward supporting Tinubu’s administration.

Barau stressed that discussing 2027 elections is premature, as the nation’s focus should remain on overcoming inherited challenges and ensuring the president’s success.

“When the time comes, we’ll play politics. But for now, it’s time for governance,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Barau updated the public on the Senate Committee on Constitution Review that he chairs.

Specifically, the committee reviews 59 bills and 31 proposals for constitutional amendments, covering local government autonomy, state police, judicial reforms, and state creation.

Additionally, the committee will hold public hearings simultaneously in six zones: Lagos, Enugu, Ikot Ekpene, Jos, Maiduguri, and Kano to ensure broad participation.

Consequently, Barau urged Nigerians to submit memoranda and actively engage in the review process, emphasizing citizen voices for shaping the nation’s future.

Finally, he declared: “This critical democratic moment requires all Nigerians to join this national dialogue.

As political speculation intensifies, Barau’s remarks underscore a commitment to governance and national development over personal ambition.

He called on all Nigerians to rally behind President Tinubu, reaffirming that loyalty and unity are essential for Nigeria’s progress and stability
